Beer BONUS &#8211; Missipi Brewing Muscatine Iowa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No audio&#8230; But I did get a pretty decent burger and beer while in Iowa this past weekend so I thought I would keep in practice by writing about it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/?attachment_id=1617\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1617\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1617\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2672-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"433\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2672-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2672-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2672-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2672-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2672-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/a>Muscatine is a little over 100 miles away from Pekin via 74 to Galesburg and then a bunch of country roads due west until you hit the Route 98 Bridge.\u00a0 Most of these river towns have fun little places to check out and Muscatine was no different.\u00a0 We walked through little antique shops, pawns shops, and galleries.\u00a0 It was a fun morning of browsing but everyone was getting restless about wanting food.<\/p>\n<p>To be clear, I did pack salami, cheese, bread, and some snacks in a cooler that morning.\u00a0 I was told in no uncertain terms by nearly everyone in my family that this would not do.\u00a0 We had heard tales from a business proprietor that we would be happy if we went to a brewery down by the river.\u00a0 They had good &#8220;pub&#8221; food.\u00a0 After hitting a few more stores I had forgotten everything about the restaurant other than it was a brewery.\u00a0 (easy for me to remember!)<\/p>\n<p>There are 2 breweries in Muscatine.\u00a0 Missipi and Contrary Brewing.\u00a0 I did a quick google on both locations and I was pretty sure that Contrary did not have food.\u00a0 That made the decision easy.\u00a0 Off to the riverfront and Missipi brewing.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The location of the brewery takes up a whole corner.\u00a0 When we pulled up to park out front, I could see they had a food truck in their beer garden that looked like a permanent installation.\u00a0 I<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/?attachment_id=1621\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1621\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1621 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0634-scaled-e1630975659371-176x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0634-scaled-e1630975659371-176x300.jpg 176w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0634-scaled-e1630975659371-601x1024.jpg 601w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0634-scaled-e1630975659371.jpg 736w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 267px) 100vw, 267px\" \/><\/a> got a little worried that the pictures I saw online were from the truck that did not appear to be serving at this time.\u00a0 We walked around the corner to a small pub that reminded me of a Chicago bar.\u00a0 Right upfront at the entry were super tight benches and a small bar on the right with a few waitresses running around busily.\u00a0 We were greeted promptly and told to sit anywhere.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1619\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1619\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/?attachment_id=1619\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1619\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1619\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2646-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2646-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2646-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2646-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2646-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Enlight2646-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1619\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Uncommon Stout by Bent River<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This place is like a maze!\u00a0 You have the old bar upfront&#8230; Then, you have a new addition to the left with lots more space.\u00a0 On top of that&#8230;\u00a0 \u00a0They have that giant beer garden behind the bar area.\u00a0 Normally, we would take the garden, but it was overcast and had been a bit drizzly earlier.\u00a0 We sat in the new area pretty much to ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>The tap list is large!\u00a0 Lots of craft beers from all over.\u00a0 Plenty of locals as well.\u00a0 I ordered an Uncommon Stout from Bent River.\u00a0 Bent River is brewed up the road in Davenport Iowa.\u00a0 We have had them in the Peoria area for a long time.\u00a0 I have not been a super fan of these guys, but I thought I would give them another run.\u00a0 Especially the Uncommon Stout.\u00a0 It has a lot of coffee flavor and I knew that having one of these at noon would be just fine.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a good beer.\u00a0 Little thin for a stout, but it was pretty refreshing after spending a few hours shopping and wandering the streets for hours before.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/?attachment_id=1620\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1620\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1620 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0631-scaled-e1630976567741-176x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"359\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0631-scaled-e1630976567741-176x300.jpg 176w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0631-scaled-e1630976567741-602x1024.jpg 602w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0631-scaled-e1630976567741-768x1305.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0631-scaled-e1630976567741-904x1536.jpg 904w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0631-scaled-e1630976567741-1205x2048.jpg 1205w, http:\/\/www.thebeerreport.com\/mainblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/IMG_0631-scaled-e1630976567741.jpg 1216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 211px) 100vw, 211px\" \/><\/a>The Burger menu was pretty fun.\u00a0 Everybody has their standards&#8230; But my son and I both saw the PicNic Burger and were intrigued.\u00a0 Baked beans along with Macaroni and cheese topping a double burger of beef and pork.\u00a0 Yes&#8230; Intermingled patties of beef and pork!\u00a0 We had to get it.<\/p>\n<p>The standard sides were 1.50 each&#8230; But the aromas of baked beans and macaroni and cheese mixed with freshly cooked meat was killing it!<\/p>\n<p>The premium side&#8230;\u00a0 That was a conversation piece for the whole table.\u00a0 The food was reasonably priced&#8230;\u00a0 There was no doubt about it.\u00a0 But 3 bucks for 4 onion rings?\u00a0 That seemed a bit stiff.\u00a0 Especially considering that the rings were confirmed to come out of a freezer bag.\u00a0 That said.\u00a0 They were really good.\u00a0 So&#8230;\u00a0 We laughed and shrugged it off.<\/p>\n<p>I ate my burger with a knife and fork&#8230;\u00a0 Left the top bun on the plate.\u00a0 This PicNic burger just about killed me!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Afterward, we took our newly fattened bodies down to the &#8220;Pearler&#8221;
